Trump Is Causing The Republican Party To Implode

Check out this article from The Washington Post about what’s happening to the Republican Party because a vast majority of its fan base support the racist, xenophobic, hate-filled rhetoric spewed by their perceived savior, Donald Trump.    The Republican Party’s implosion over Donald Trump’s candidacy has arrived

All I can say is, it couldn’t be happening to a more deserving group of bigots.

  3. tRump doesn’t want to disavow Duke because (I would daresay) many (most?) of his followers/supporters are white supremacists themselves — or at least support the idea.

    All he cares about is getting people to support him to feed his terribly oversized ego. I don’t think he really cares one iota about actually running the country. Well, maybe he does … providing he gets enough people fawning over him.

    What they are doing now is running around trying to pick up the pieces of the pinata, and hoping no one will notice.

    I really hope they can see what they have become and have become fearful of themselves. You are right, it couldn’t happen to a better bunch of bigoted assholes.

  7. “It’s scary,” South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who has endorsed Rubio, said on ABC’s “This Week.” She added: “I think what he’ll [Trump] do to the Republican Party is really make us question who we are and what we’re about. And that’s something we don’t want to see happen.”

    Well, I do want to see that happen for a whole lot of reasons.

    Do you think the GOP establishment will prevent Trump from getting the nomination by calling for a brokered convention?

    • I don’t know. I think he’s going to sweep the primaries, so, if they do that, the Republicans really will tear themselves to irreparable pieces. They created this monster, and they don’t know what to do with it. Trump is just your typical Republican on a small dose of steroids. To me, he’s the embodiment of Republican ideals. If the party doesn’t want to change those ideals, or face the fact that they ARE, indeed, their ideals, then they’re, hopefully, completely doomed. Please, let that be the case.

    • If they call for a brokered convention, and Trump sweeps the primaries, like I think he will, what do you see happening? You’re wiser than I am on such matters, so I’m quite curious as to what you think.

    • If this had happened fifty years ago, I’d be fairly certain that Republicans would rally around an alternative candidate at the brokered convention with the rank-and-file quickly falling in line. But, this isn’t fifty years ago and there was no candidate like Trump back then.

      Considering the current political situation, a brokered convention would be an incredibly bold and risky move by the GOP establishment. Would the delegates fall in line? Would Trump go crazy and file lawsuits and/or run as an independent/third-party candidate? I hazard to guess.

    • Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, and this usually leads to a headache for me cause I so rarely do it, if Trump sweeps the primaries, the Republicans would have no choice but to give him the nomination. I thought, again, very dangerous for me, that a brokered convention happens when there’s no clear winner. Can they call for one even if Trump wipes the floor with Rubio and Cruz, as I’d like to do?

    • Oh yes, not only could they hold a brokered convention against an obvious front-runner, but such backroom dealing was the normal process for selecting party nominees up until a few decades ago. Besides rule changes, what’s different now is the weakening of ‘party bosses’ who are responsible for keeping underlings under control. Since the emergence of the Tea Party, that top-down party control has been minimized.

    • Wow. It’ll be fascinating to see what happens as I’m more than certain tRump is NOT the dude the Republicans want running for President. I love this mess they’ve created for themselves because my hatred and disdain for them knows no bounds.

    • I know. It came to a head over the weekend when Trump refused to disavow himself from the KKK and David Duke after being told by a CNN reporter that they supported him. He kept shrugging off the questions by saying he wasn’t sure what those “groups” were. Not sure what the KKK is, Donald? Yeah. This is fun stuff.
