Christopher Lee died this past Sunday at the age of 93. With his portrayals of such characters as Dracula, Saruman, Count Dooku, and the Mummy, Christopher Lee has entertained me for as long as I can remember. He lived a long, prosperous life and worked practically right up until its end. Rest in peace, Mr. Lee, and thank you.

To think he was able to live such a captivating life up to the close of the final chapter is remarkable in itself. And who left here will fill his shoes? If none, then we have witnessed an extinction.

I think he’s the last of a great generation of actors who are now all gone.

He was so good at playing bad guys. His Dooku character was classic.

Count Dooku aka, Darth Tyranus. Awesome.

He’s terrific in a Jess Franco film form the 70’s called, The Bloody Judge, where he plays a 17th century witch finder. He’s a sadistic, cruel prick and he plays it beautifully.

Somehow I missed that flick, but I’ll keep an eye out for it now.

Wickerman, the original one, is one of his best, too. If for some reason you’ve not seen it, you must.

I saw this earlier today and needed a little moment to collect myself. He was one of the greats, that voice alone I could recognise anywhere and he could have recited the phone book I would still have listened to him with pleasure. RIP Mr Lee

He was also a member of the SAS, what an amazing man. Last of the Hammer horror actors too. Again, such a shame.

Yes. The SAS. That’s what I was thinking of. Last of the Hammer Horror actors. Man, that’s sad. I love those movies. They introduced blood, huge cleavages, and erotic lesbian vampires to the world.

Oh my yes, Hammer movies are the greatest! Chris Lee will always be Dracula to me, as much as Peter Cushing is the definitive Van Helsing!

He was a very intelligent guy, too. He was the type who’d actually read a book or see a movie before offering a supremely long, ranting critique of it. And, if he thought a book or movie would not be something he’d enjoy, well, by golly, he’d just pass on reading it or seeing it without ranting on about it. Great fella, Christopher was.
